Aloysius Radlinski

Aloysius "Al" Radlinski served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II. Al enlisted in the Army in 1942 and in 1945 he entered Holland as part of the 84th Infantry Division. He served as a guard patrolman and rifleman. While patrolling Roermond, Holland with his company, he was walking up a railroad track when he stepped on a shoe mine left behind by the exiting German Army. The blast severed his leg above the ankle. He lost his leg below the knee and spent fifteen months hospitalized before being discharged in March 1946. Al earned the Purple Heart, European Theater Victory Medal and the Bronze Star.Back to Stories
