On the morning of September 11th, 2001, Officer Tom Beckman of the Fairfax County Police Motor Unit responded to the Pentagon in response to the terrorist attacks.  He describes the scene as he and his partner approached the Pentagon and the mindset of law enforcement on that day as the specter of more attacks weighed heavy on their minds.
